Near-Term Temperature Data For Days 1-14

Temperature output from the American GFS weather model is presented on this page for days 1-14. The model updates four times per day at 00Z, 06Z, 12Z, and 18Z. Each 6-hour cycle is available on the maps from Tropical Tidbits on the left hand column and these update promptly at 5 am, 11 am, 5 pm, and 11 pm EDT. The numerical calculations on the right column use only data from the 0Z and 12Z model run and are thus updated only twice a day and only when the model run has finished in its entirety.

14-Day Temperature Forecast

14-Day Gas-Weighted Degree Day Forecast

Gas-Weighted Degree Days (GWDDs) are a proprietary calculation that estimates the contribution of temperature to natural gas demand. It takes into account variables such heating and cooling degree days (the absolute distance of the mean temperature from 65), population distribution, and region-specific patterns of natural gas consumption. Simply, a higher number of GWDDs correlates to higher natural gas demand.
